MAX and Portland Streetcar service was restored Monday afternoon after being disrupted during the morning rush hour. The interruption was caused by weekend construction on the Portland-Milwaulkie Light Rail Transit Project that stretched into weekday commuting hours, according to TriMet officials.

During the outage, Green and Yellow trains are running on the Blue and Red rails on 1st Avenue and Morrison/Yamhill.

Bus lines served 5th and 6th MAX stops and shuttles served Streetcar riders between 10th and Clay to Lowell and Bond during the disruption.

TriMet had initially estimated the construction would disrupt the lines Saturday and Sunday nights, but did not indicate Monday morning commuters would be affected.

Power was briefly down for all MAX lines in the Portland City Center, with TriMet directing riders to take regular bus service. The lines were quickly restored.

The transit service received a heavy dose of criticism on social media Monday morning as the outage lingered on.
