No criminal charges in fatal crash near Boring

Driver fatigue cited as cause of OC woman's death -

The driver who caused a fatal car crash earlier this year near Boring will not face criminal prosecution.

Oregon State Police said in a statement that Amanda J. Graham, 18, of Boring will only be charged with careless driving in connection with the accident at 11:30 p.m. March 23 that took the life of Cheryl Elaine Hill, 57, of Oregon City and seriously injured Graham.

The decision to not charge Graham with more serious charges came after an investigation by the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office.

Driver fatigue was identified as a contributing factor in the crash when the pickup Graham was driving crossed the double solid centerline while traveling eastbound on Highway 212 near milepost 6 and hit Hill's Mazda sedan head-on.

Hill died shortly after arriving at a hospital and Graham was initially listed in critical condition. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and there was no indication of drugs or alcohol as contributing factors, according to OSP.
