Two teens held after man assaulted on MAX train
Portland police are investigating the beating of a 57-year-old man on a TriMet MAX train Friday afternoon.
Police said the victim was not seriously injured in the attack. Two young men, ages 15 and 16, were arrested on charges connected with the disturbance.
The incident began shortly before 5 p.m. on an eastbound MAX train. Police said a group of 15 to 20 young African American men were being loud on the train and the victim asked them to be quiet. Some of the teens began assaulting the man, police said.
When the train reached the 60th Avenue station, the young men ran off the train and scattered. Police detained a few of the teens before making the two arrests.
Transit police will review surveillance video from the train to identify additional suspects and to determine additional charges.
