City turns to groundwater supply after leak in Bull Run pipe
A leak in a Bull Run pipe has forced the city of Portland to activate the groundwater wells in the Columbia South Shore Well Field.
Water Bureau officials said the leak in a 50-inch supply conduit was discovered Monday, June 30. It will take two days to repair the leak, officials said. During that time, the city will get about 30 percent of its water from the well field.
Once the conduit has been repaired, the bureau will do its annual maintenance of the groundwater system during the week of July 7, replacing the maintenance run scheduled for August.
