Fire department calls for county-wide burn ban

A burn ban is in effect throughout Washington County and will remain until further notice.

A burn ban is declared based on weather conditions and the relative fire danger.

The Burn Ban includes all backyard burning and agricultural burning, but does not include recreational fires in fire pits and barbeques, and ceremonial or religious fires, which require permits from the local fire department.

Residents who violate the burn ban will be fined.

Additional information on burning within the city can be obtained at 503-681-6204. Those planning on vacationing in other counties or states should check with the local fire agencies to determine whether there are restrictions on campfires or off-road recreational vehicles.
