Two arrested in gang-related shooting
Police have arrested two men in connection with an April gang-related shooting at Rose City Park in Northeast Portland.
Abdalla Burey Sheikwali, 23, and Fahad Abdalla Abdiaziz, 24, are charged with attempted murder and assault in the first degree. They are accused of attacking Marquis Glover, 20. He suffered multiple gunshots wounds and was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Sheikwali was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in Washington by the Tukwila Police Department after gang detectives received information about his whereabouts. Abdiaziz was arrested Tuesday evening at his home in the 5800 block of Northeast Hoyt Street by the Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team.
The investigation began on Friday April 13, at 6:30 p.m., when Portland police officers responded to the report of a shooting at Northeast 64th Avenue and Tillamook Street. Glover was playing basketball at Rice Elementary School's outdoor courts when he got into a fight with Sheikwali. Abdiaziz provided a gun to Sheikwali who then shot Glover multiple times.
According to police, numerous witnesses were interviewed and provided detectives with key information leading to the arrest of both suspects.
Sheikwali will remain in custody in the State of Washington until he is extradited. Abdiaziz has been booked into the Multnomah county Jail.
