by: COURTESY OF PCC - Deanna Palm of Washington County is the new PCC board chairwoman.Deanna Palm, president of the Greater Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce, has been named chairwoman of the Portland Community College board for the 2014-15 year.

Palm, who was appointed to the PCC Board in 2009 and then elected in 2011, was sworn in by PCC President Jeremy Brown at the board’s July 17 meeting.

A former PCC student, Deanna Palm represents Zone 7, which covers western Washington County. She has been president of the Greater Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce since 2001.

The seven-member PCC board represents zones across the college district. PCC is the state’s largest post-secondary institution, serving about 89,903 full- and part-time students. The 1,500-square-mile PCC district has three comprehensive campuses, five workforce training and education centers and 200 community locations.
