Stabbing suspect faces murder charge; one victim recovering


Wayne Dinayog NabehetA 47-year-old man faces a murder charge after the stabbing Thursday afternoon that killed one person and injured another.

Wayne Dinayog Nabehet is in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of murder and first-degree assault. He is the suspect in a Northeast Portland stabbing that killed a 55-year-old man and left a 65-year-old man seriously injured.

The homicide victim's name was not released. Police said David Karl Kidder was in a Portland hospital recovering from his injuries. He is expeted to survive.

The incident began at about 4:17 p.m. Thursday, July 31, when North Precinct officers responded to a house in the 4700 block of Northeast 96th Avenue to check on a stabbing report. At the house, officers found a man who had a serious stab wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A man inside the house, a suspect in the stabbing, refused to come out. Police began to negotiate with the man and SERT officers responded to the house. The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.
