Fundraiser to affect bridges Sunday
Ten bridges over in and around Portland will be partly or totally closed Sunday during the 19th Annual Providence Bridge Pedal.
Providence and state and local traffic officials are urging motorists to plan ahead and include extra travel time if driving into and out of Portland on Aug. 10.
Those going northbound on the freeway should take I-405. Those going southbound on the freeway should take I-5. And for those going across the Willamette River, the Morrison, Broadway and St. Johns bridges will be open in both directions.
Here is the full list of traffic changes:
St. Johns Bridge Open both directions. Traffic restricted to one lane each direction from 7 to 11 a.m.
Fremont Bridge Closed upper deck (I-405 southbound) from 4 a.m. to noon. Open bottom deck (I-405 northbound) throughout the event.
Access to bridge by cyclists ends at 11:30 a.m.
Broadway Bridge Open both directions. Traffic restricted to one lane eastbound from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Steel Bridge Closed eastbound from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. MAX will be running.
Burnside Bridge Closed westbound from 6:30 to 11 a.m.
Morrison Bridge Open both directions. Traffic restricted to one lane eastbound from 6 to 8 a.m.
Hawthorne Bridge Closed eastbound from 6 to 11 a.m. Tri-Met buses will use center lanes. Westbound lane open. (Note: outside eastbound lane will close Saturday evening)
Marquam Bridge Closed upper deck (I-5 northbound) from 4 to 11 a.m. I-5 northbound traffic will be routed to I-405. Open lower deck (I-5 southbound) throughout the event.
Ross Island Bridge Closed westbound from 5:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Sellwood Bridge Closed westbound 5:30 to 9 a.m.
