Apparent suicide prompts SERT call-out
Police are investigating an apparent suicide in a Northeast Portland that prompted a call-out of the Special Emergency Reaction Team on Wednesday morning.
According to police, at 7:46 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Northeast Shaver on a call of a suicidal man in a residence armed with a gun. After the officers arrived, they heard a shot fired inside and activated SERT. The streets around the house were also closed and nearby residents were urged to remain indoors.
After a few hours, police located a decease male inside the house. No additional details were immediately available and the investigation is continuing.
