The driver, Lakeshia Necole Robinson, 36, is charged with Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, Attempt to Elude on Foot, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest.

Robinson's child, who was in the car during the chase, has been released unharmed to family members after a precautionary exam at a Portland hospital.

Portland police said the chase began after a North Precinct officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Northeast Killingsworth Street for a traffic violation. The driver did not stop and attempted to elude police.

The crash happened at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Russell Street when officers performed a successful PIT Maneuver (Pursuit Intervention Technique), which caused the vehicle to spin out.

Police said after the vehicle spun out the driver continued to attempt to elude police and crashed into a stopped vehicle.

A woman then exited the vehicle and attempted to run from officers, but police said they were able to take her into custody a short distance away. Police have yet to release the woman’s name.

After taking the driver into custody, officers checked the inside of her vehicle and found a child in the backseat, who was unharmed.

Medical personnel transported the child to a Portland area hospital for a precautionary exam, police said.

No one was injured in the stopped vehicle that the woman crashed into on Northeast 82nd and Russell.

North Precinct and Traffic Division officers are investigating the crash.
