Lock-in lifted for Reynolds grade schools
A lock-in has been released for Alder, Davis and Hartley Elementary schools, said Gresham Police Officer Adam Baker.
The lock-in was announced by Reynolds School District around 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, for Gresham Police Department activity in the area of 190th Avenue and Yamhill Street.
Baker said an adult male had been shot in the street, with the shooter taking off westbound on foot from 189th Avenue and Yamhill Street. The victim was transported to an area hospital.
Gresham Police put the three elementary schools under a lock-in as a precautionary measure. A lock-in was lifted by 1:35 p.m., Baker said.
Officers, detectives and police dogs continued to search for the shooter but had cleared the area near the elementary schools.
All students and staff were safe inside their buildings, said District Spokeswoman Andrea Watson earlier this afternoon.
Students with bus routes on 190th Avenue between Stark and Yamhill may be affected, Watson said. Parents will be called by the school if their child is on an affected bus stop or route.
Possible afternoon bus changes for Davis and Alder Elementary and Reynolds Middle and Reynolds High students are as follows:
Alder: Bus 21, 59 (only students with stops between Stark and Yamhill on 190th)
Reynolds Middle: Bus 7, 15, 36 (only students with stops between Stark and Yamhill on 190th)
Davis: Bus 1, 47 (only students with stops between Stark and Yamhill on 190th)
Reynolds High: Bus 39, 59
Baker said the the shooting victim was conscious when police arrived but that they did not know his status upon transport to the hospital.
