Should rapid bus line go down 82nd Avenue?

Should Trimet’s planned bus rapid transit line go through the pan-Asian Jade District on 82nd Avenue?

Metro’s project planners want to get the public’s take on the idea, and invite the public to an open house on Monday, Jan. 11, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Jade/APANO Multicultural Space, 8114 S.E. Division St.

The rapid bus line is expected to start on Powell Boulevard in inner Southeast Portland, then jog north to Division Street and extend east to Gresham. But there’s different potential routes for the jog where the line would move from Powell to Division, and vice versa.

The leading idea is to make 82nd Avenue the connecting route between Powell and Division. But Southeast 50th and 52nd avenues also are under consideration.

Those who can’t make the open house can check out the material on Metro’s website, at http://www.oregonmetro.gov/public-projects/powell-division-transit-and-development-project.

The public also can weigh in on proposed stops for the planned transit line. Check out: http://trimet.org/survey/

The survey will commence until Jan. 15.
