Tigard Police officers are investigating a fatal crash in which one vehicle drifted into the oncoming traffic lane, and smashed headon into another vehicle. The collision occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning, on Roy Rogers Road, approximately 1/8 mile south of Scholls Ferry Road.
An adult female driver traveling alone, whose car had stayed in its lane, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second vehicle involved -- the one which had drifted into oncoming traffic -- was driven by a 31 year-old man who was transported by ambulance to Providence St. Vincent Hospital.
Washington County CART is investigating, to determine just why the second vehicle had veered into the oncoming lane to cause the fatal accident.
Roy Rogers Road was closed shortly after 8:30 a.m. to all southbound traffic at Scholls Ferry Road, and to all northbound traffic at Bull Mountain Road -- and the closures were expected to remain in place until close to dusk Saturday afternoon, while officers continued to investigate the fatality.
