Motorcyclist dies in Northeast Airport Way crash late Saturday


A motorcyclist died after crashing into a police on Northeast Airport Way last Saturday.

The name of the male cyclist was not immediately released.

According to police, witnesses say the deceased cyclist was riding at a high rate of speed next to another motorcycle eastbound on Airport Way just prior to the crash.

Police say that at 11:06 p.m. on Jan. 23, North Precinct officers responded to the report of a motorcycle rider that crashed on Airport Way near Northeast 145th Avenue. Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult rider, who was deceased from his injuries.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Airport Way was closed between 138th and 148th Avenue for several hours overnight.
