Gunshots fired during homeless camping dispute downtown
Police are investigating reports that a dispute over a homeless camping site led to gunfire in downtown Portland on Thursday.
No one was injured in the incident and no suspect information was immediately released.
According to police, at 8:36 p.m. on Feb. 11, Central Precinct responded to Northwest Naito Parkway under the Broadway Bridge on a second hand report that someone was firing a gun under the bridge.
When the officers arrived, they contacted witnesses who said that two homeless men were arguing over a camping spot when one of the men pulled a handgun and fired several shots towards the other man.
Both men ran away and there were no reported injuries. Officers canvassing the area located evidence of gunfire consistent with the witness accounts.
