Portland rents 12th highest in nation

COURTESY ZUMPER - Portland rents varied widely in February, with the most expensive rates in the Pearl District.Portland had the 12th highest rents in the country in February according to Zumper, a national home and apartment search with around one million active rentals across the U.S. a month.

Since January, one bedroom rents in the region decreased 1.4 percent to a median of $1,360, while two bedrooms increased a slight 0.6 percent to a median of $1,570.

Although rents varied widely across the region, the Pearl District had most expensive rental rates in February, with its one bedroom median of $2,200. Over $600 behind the Pearl, the Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood ($1,560) and the Corbett/Terwilliger/Lair Hill neighborhood ($1,550) were the next priciest parts of town.

According to Zumper, San Francisco has the highest 1-bedroom median rental rate in the county at $3,500 a month, followed by New York at $3,220 and Boston at $2,340.
