FILE - Tualatin Mayor Lou Ogden gives last year's State of the City address.Days after the Washington County chairman announced he would not run for another term next year, Tualatin Mayor Lou Ogden told The Times he is seeking the seat.

Ogden said he has been planning a run for several months in the expectation Andy Duyck would not seek another term. Duyck has chaired the Washington County Board of Commissioners since 2011 and was first elected as a county commissioner in 1994.

"I wouldn't run against Andy," said Ogden, who indicated he had spoken with Duyck about whether he would run for another term. "I sort of had some inside information he was leaning that way, so I had made the decision quite some time ago that that would be something I'd be very interested in doing."

In Washington County, commissioners are elected from four geographic districts, except for the board chairperson, who is elected countywide.
