Washington County deputies arrested 12 drivers for DUII, including 2 involved in rollover crashes on Friday, June 23.
Officials were dispatched after midnight to Northwest Cornelius Pass Road and Northwest Old Cornelius Pass Road following reports of a rollover crash.
The passenger in the vehicle jerked the steering wheel to avoid hitting the deer, concerned that the driver hadn't seen it, according to police.
They said that the passengers actions caused the accident, injuring a third person in the car as well, while the deer wasn't hurt.
The driver, Jared Sabin, 25, and passenger Emmylea Williams, 24, both of Portland, were arrested.
According to police, Sabin's blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit. Williams was arrested for reckless endangering.
Later that night, just after 12:15 a.m., deputies were called to another rollover crash at the 32000 block of Southwest Johnson School Road, and found a late-model Subaru on its side. Authorities say that excessive speed and alcohol were factors of the crash.
Dean Cockeram, 22, of Forest Grove, was the driver transported to a hospital to treat injuries. He was cited for DUII, reckless driving and criminal mischief.
