Driver arrested for DUII after woman struck on Sandy
A 54-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants Thursday evening after a collision that injured a woman crossing Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
Portland police said Anthony L. Barnum was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of DUII, third-degree assault and reckless driving. He was taken into custody at the crash scene near Northeast 42nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.
The woman was being treated at a local hospital for what police said were serious, life-threatening injuries. Her name has not been released.
The collision happened at about 7:10 p.m. March 1, when police said the woman was crossing Sandy Boulevard at 42nd Avenue. She was struck by a westbound green Ford Explorer, driven by Barnum.
