Public weighs in on county bridge work
Multnomah County officials host a public meeting Thursday to discuss a possible 20-year capital improvement plan for the countys six Willamette River Bridges: the Broadway, Burnside, Hawthorne, Morrison, Sauvie
Island and Sellwood.
The meeting is from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at the Multnomah Building conference room 315, 501 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd.
Most of the bridges are nearly a century old. The youngest, the Morrison Bridge, is 48 years old.
People attending the session can learn about the countys bridges improvement plan, criteria for selecting projects, schedule and ways the public can stay involved in the process.
The meeting is designed to let the public weigh in on the bridges future by providing ideas on goals and priorities for improvements.
The new bridge capital improvement plan will go to the board of commissioners this fall, after a public comment
In addition to Thursdays meeting, the county will take ideas on the plan through an online survey at multco.us/bridgeplan. The survey ends April 4.
