White supremacists arrested during raid
Authorities used flashbangs and tear gas in a multi-agency raid in East Portlands Hazelwood neighborhood early Wednesday morning as part of a narcotics and weapons investigation.
The Multnomah County Sheriffs Office reports that 10 people were detained when law enforcement served search warrants at two units of a triplex in the 10900 block of East Burnside Street.
The sheriffs office Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Portland police Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT) executed the warrant at about 3 a.m. Two suspects were taken into custody outside the triplex. SERT officers then set off flashbangs and ordered the rest of the occupants to come out. When they refused, SERT deployed tear gas into the units, which prompted most of them to surrender. TNT deputies searched the units and located the last suspect hiding in an attic.
The locations were 10995 E. Burnside Rd. and 10997 E. Burnside Rd. in Portland. Law enforcement officials say both addresses had been identified as a central location and gathering place for known white supremacist gang members from European Kindred, Brood and FBK.
During the searches of the two units, SIU investigators assisted by MCSO Detectives, MCSO Warrant Strike Team members, Gresham Police Department's Special Enforcement Team and a PPB drug K9 found and seized six firearms (3 semi-automatics and 2 revolvers), a rifle, drug scales and packaging materials, drug records and approximately one and a half ounces of methamphetamine packaged for street sales.
