OHSU girds for Knight fundraising challenge
Oregon Health & Science University scored a major prize Friday when Phil and Penny Knight pledged a $500 million matching grant for its Knight Cancer Institute. On Tuesday, OHSU officials announced they intend to separately raise the $500 million that will allow them to reap the latest Knight gift. In addition OHSU detailed how it would use the new funds during the next 10 years.
The Knights had given OHSU $100 million in 2008 to start the institute that bears their name. The new grant, if matched, will allow the institute to increase its focus on developing better tools for early cancer detection and diagnosis. The institutes focus until now has been on targeted cancer therapies for cancer treatment.
OHSU has two years in which to raise its half of the matching grant.Add a comment
