Parents in school district like Dana Terhune
To the Editor:
As parents of a Tigard High graduate and a Twality Middle-schooler, we write this letter supporting the re-election of Dana Terhune for Tigard-Tualatin School Board Position 3.
Dana's commitment to the educational institutions and related organizations in our community (totals) countless hours over the years. She has spent time as a volunteer in her children's schools, organized after-school programs, served as president of the Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools, and in 2009 was elected to her first term on the TTSD School Board. Terhune advocates for this community's children and the need for excellence in education.
During her first term on the board, Dana was instrumental in helping the board shape a long-term strategic plan. Highlighted goals include board accountability to the public, engagement of parents and the community in partnerships to support student learning, increasing academic expectations and preparing all TTSD graduates to be college or career ready.
These are not just words in a document. Dana works tirelessly toward the realization of these and the many other goals and duties that go along with serving on the board.
Dana possesses impeccable integrity, is thoughtful and well-reasoned. She listens and considers all perspectives before making tough decisions. Her previous board and budget experience will prove invaluable given the current public school funding situation.
(Terhune's feet are) already on the ground and running, and her work ethic and dedication will help assure the goals and objectives already set forth can be achieved. Our community and students are fortunate to have her as an advocate and steward.
Please join us in supporting Dana Terhune for TTDS School Board
