Red, white and blue dominate King City on Fourth
Both KCCA and Edgewater on the Tualatin hold parades
For many years, King City has held an annual golf cart parade on the Fourth of July, although in recent years, participation has dwindled.
This year, however, with the event held July 3, there were 14 golf carts plus the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Station 35 engine and crew, according to organizer Bob Olmstead.
Traditionally, the residents of Pacific Pointe Retirement Inn act as the judges, awarding first, second and third place. To make sure the judges get a good look at the carts, the parade goes by them three times, made convenient by Pacific Pointes circular parking lot.
First place went to Brad Wyatt; second place went to Roy and Traci Armour; and third place went to Ellen Lee, who cheats be bringing along her grandkids every year.
Next year will be even better, Olmstead said.
