Celebrate the Gifts Art Festival is slated for Oct. 4-6

Nearly 60 artists will have their works available for sale

Calvin Presbyterian Church's annual Celebrate the Gifts Art Festival will kick off with an artists' preview reception Friday, Oct. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m., when guests can meet the artists and purchase their works.

Popular Portland harpist Ellen Lindquist will be the featured soloist for the reception, which costs $5.

There is no charge for the remainder of the three-day event, which also runs Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This fine arts show and sale will showcase nearly 60 juried Oregon artists sharing their woven works, collages, watercolors, oil and acrylic paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, fabric, wood and metal arts.

The show also will feature photography this year with professional photographer Raina Stinson providing a photo booth at the show with props and accessories so that shoppers may have their photos taken and printed immediately.

In addition, throughout the show there will be periodic art demonstrations, live music and a fashion show on Saturday, plus gourmet desserts will be for sale during the weekend.

Donations and a percentage of art sales will benefit local mission projects.

As a direct result of last year's show, $6,000 was donated to the local community. This year's proceeds will benefit the Good Neighbor Center in Tigard, Union Gospel Mission, Oregon Food Bank, Western Farm Workers and Habitat for Humanity, among others.
