Troops in Afghanistan on receiving end of Mission Mahalo boxes

Troops are appreciative of the decorations, toiletries and treats they received

by: COURTESY OF MISSION MAHALO - FOURTH OF JULY IN AFGHANISTAN - U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan sent photos of Fourth of July gifts they recently received from Mission Mahalo.Mission Mahalo volunteers gathered in the King City Clubhouse on May 31 to pack up 54 boxes of hygiene items and Fourth of July decorations that were shipped the same day to troops in Afghanistan who are stationed on forward operating bases.

After receiving the boxes, the appreciative troops emailed some photos to Mission Mahalo co-founder Jennifer Lamaye, formerly of King City.

Mission Mahalo has mailed well over 1,000 boxes to overseas troops since it was founded in 2011, and more packing parties are planned in the future as Lamaye has a goal of sending a Christmas box to every single Oregonian serving in Afghanistan.

With 1,100 Oregon National Guard troops now being mobilized to head to Afghanistan, Mission Mahalo will have a busy summer and fall.
