Motorists failing to heed the “Bridge Closed” signs near the Sellwood Bridge were the only grumpy people early on Sunday, August 12, during the 2012 Portland Bridge Pedal.

Only a portion of the 18,000 participants chose the longest, 35-mile “10-Bridge Ride”, route – which took bikers down S.E. Milwaukie Avenue, around Sellwood Boulevard, and by Sellwood Park – and finally over the Sellwood Bridge.

Now in its 17th year, the Bridge Pedal is said to be the third-largest organized bike ride in the nation.
