Jimmy Dean Patterson, age 53, who turned himself in five days after a pickup truck he was driving hit and killed a pedestrian on S.E. Foster Road at S.E. 70th on the early evening of January 28th, has pleaded guilty to a charge of “failing to perform the duties of a driver”.

Portland Police suspected that he had been drunk at the time of the fatal accident, and indeed he did admit to having had “four or five drinks” that night – but when he came forward to admit to the crime five days had passed, and no blood test for alcohol would then have been relevant.
