by: DAVID F. ASHTON - All over the room, students sing and dance to the delight of parents and supporters at the St. Agatha fundraising dinner. The 250 guests at a formal sit-down dinner in St. Agatha's Catholic School’s gymnasium on October 14 expected a gourmet meal followed by a fundraising appeal to support their educational foundation. It turned out that there also was a surprise.

After Principal Jeff Delegato addressed the group, music suddenly filled room – “Maria” from “The Sound of Music”, played by Heidi Ames, the school’s music teacher – led children into the room, and around the dinner tables, after which they performed “Do-Re-Mi” from the same Rogers and Hammerstein musical.

“Having our children perform,” exclaimed the Board Chair of the school’s Educational Endowment Trust, Kevin Lough, “was, for us, marvelous entertainment!”

The reaction of the surprised audience showed that they agreed. No word on whether the fundraising was extra successful as a result.
