by: DAVID F. ASHTON - The hood and windshield of this Honda Fit are clearly damaged from the impact - which police say happened when a pedestrian stepped right in front of it.Not all traffic accidents involving pedestrians and vehicles are the fault of poor or careless drivers, police say.

On February 11, at 6:27 pm, police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on S.E. Powell Boulevard at 69th Avenue.

“A witness told officers they believed the subject may have intentionally tried to get hit by the vehicle as it was traveling eastbound on S.E. Powell Boulevard,” PPB Public Information Officer Sgt. Pete Simpson told THE BEE.

The PPB Traffic Division responded and assumed control of the investigation.

“The victim was transported to the hospital as a trauma entry,” Simpson said. “No citation was recorded against the driver.”
