by: DAVID F. ASHTON - After crashing into this house, police say, the driver took off - leaving his flustered passenger behind.Emergency responders rolled out to rescue vehicle crash victims, after being dispatched to the 3300 block of S.E. Franklin Street at about 11:15 on September 19.

Before THE BEE arrived on-scene, Portland Fire & Rescue Engine 9’s crew reported “occupants out of vehicle; refusing help”.

In the middle of the block, police officers were examining a pickup truck which had been driven through a front yard, and stopped just touching a house.

“From our preliminary investigation,” a Portland Police officer told THE BEE, “a male and female were engaged in a domestic dispute, while the truck was eastbound on S.E. Franklin Street.”

For reasons unknown, the officer continued, the male driver lost control of the vehicle, left the road, and hit the structure – but with little force, causing only minimal damage to the house.

The driver took off on foot before police arrived, leaving a witness – a distraught female passenger – to explain the situation to the officers. No further information is available at this writing; but the incident remains under investigation.
