Jingle-Juggling all the way

by: DAVID F. ASHTON - Henrik Bothe says hes found many ways to juggle Holiday chores - this time, while shopping at the Westmoreland True Value Hardware store. No merchandise was harmed in the course of this interview. He’s Sellwood-based, but internationally known. Physical comedian, juggler, and motivation speaker Henrik Bothe says he hears many people say they have difficulty “finding balance” during the sometimes hectic Holidays. You just don’t say that to a juggler without expecting a response!

“Among all of the activities, like shopping, traveling, visiting with friends and preparing dinners and entertaining, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed,” Bothe admits to THE BEE. But his advice does not involve show-stopping tricks. It’s practical for us all.

He suggests:

·

  • Don't try to force the "Holiday spirit" – “If you create unrealistic expectations, you’re setting yourself up for a letdown. Instead, enjoy the Holidays as they are.”

    ·

  • Do what you enjoy, not what you dread – “Instead of feeling shackled to old Holiday traditions simply because ‘it’s what you’ve always done’, think of, and do, new things, and get out of the rut.”

    ·

  • Pace yourself – “Accept invitations to events and venues where you feel accepted; don’t agree to attend just because you’ve been asked.” But the advice does include a touch of his own special expertise – how HE handles the stress of the season…

    ·

  • Juggle, and Chin Balance! – “I don’t know of a better way to ‘blow off steam’ and feel more relaxed. That is, unless the urge to do so comes to you in a local store where they know you!”

Bothe concludes, “Merry Christmas, and have a great New Year”. So say we all.
