Mural at 'Limelight' celebrates Inner Southeast

by: RITA A. LEONARD - Limelight MuralA door-sized mural tucked away near the entrance to the Limelight Restaurant and Lounge, 6708 S.E. Milwaukie Avenue in Westmoreland next to the Moreland Theater, features a collage of over forty faces.

Also included in this narrow indoor mural are area highlights, such as Oaks Park, Antique Row, a great blue heron, bikers, skateboarders, the Sellwood Bridge, and the Willamette River. The neighborhoods of Westmoreland, Sellwood, Eastmoreland, Brooklyn, and Reed are also referenced.

It was painted by Portland native Chris Haberman, who over the past twelve years has sold thousands of paintings characterized as “urban primitive”. “My art is made of 100% recycled materials,” he says. “I work from an urban aesthetic.”
