ASHTON - Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association Vice Chair Matt Rinker, Land Use Chair Lisa Gunion-Rinker, Treasurer Chris Davis, Chair Jeff Davis, and Mom Carol Tenbarge join in welcoming guests, and giving out free raffle tickets to attendees. The hills and dales of the Ardenwald-Johnson Creek neighborhood came alive with the sound of music again in August, in their annual concert series.

This year, neighbors and friends were treated to five concerts, on successive Thursdays at Ardenwald Park, with the live music ranging from blues and soul, to swing and jazz, to bluegrass. And, it ended on August 29 with rock violinist Aaron Meyer, and Tim Ellis and Jim Walker.

“These concerts is a way that the association ‘gives back’ to the neighbors,” said the organizer, and Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association Chair Jeff Davis

“We may not see our neighbors that much during the year, but everybody comes to the concerts,” Davis said. “And, in a way, these events help strengthen the community.”

As the “acoustic power duo” called “Tim and Jim” took the stage, guests filled in the lawn in front of the gazebo on blankets and seated in chairs. Some availed themselves of the food being offered by two vendors – and others brought their picnic dinners with them.

“These August concerts are worth doing,” Davis commented, “because everyone appreciates them.”
