Southwest celebrates National Night Out

For the last three decades, Portland has joined cities throughout North America in celebrating National Night Out, described by city of Portland staff as "a day when people hold parties to strenghthen community cohesiveness and crime resistance, as well as to get to know their local public safety officials." National Night Out occurs the first Tuesday of every August, but parties are still considered National Night Out parties if they are registered with the city of Portland and occur between Aug. 2 and Aug. 11.
