Children's theater camp presents 'The Shoemaker and the Elf'
St. Helens High School production promotes positive message about self-acceptance
A weeklong childrens theater camp will present the culmination of their work with a musical performance of a classic Brothers Grimm tale this Friday.
River City Childrens Theater will present The Shoemaker and the Elf on July 13 at 7 p.m. in St. Helens High Schools Olmscheid Auditorium. The show is free, but donations will be accepted.
The River City Childrens Theater is part of the St. Helens High School drama department and has been putting on childrens theater performances in the county for nine years.
The July 13 production is an original piece written by director Megan Wacker with music and lyrics by Elijah Heide.
The story involves a man who finds himself in a shoe factory, while dreaming of baking. Another woman wishes to design shoes while working among famous elf bakers. The humorous production is meant to promote the message that people are special just the way they are.
Another River City Childrens Theater camp will begin Aug. 6 and run through Aug. 10. The camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, culminating with a performance on Aug. 10. Every camp participant is guaranteed a role, either on stage or as a technician. The cost is $95. Contact Ron Barnett at This email address is being protected from spambots.
