Pumpkin painting lets young artists get into the festive spirit
Aspiring young artists can show their skills on a unique canvas starting Saturday for a festive pumpkin painting event hosted by the St. Helens Arts and Cultural Commission.
There will be two pumpkin painting afternoons: Oct. 13 and Oct. 20. Both will run from noon to 4 p.m. in the Masonic Building, located at 235 S. 1st St. in Olde Towne. If weather permits, the free event will take place in the Courthouse Plaza Park.
Although the event is free, the arts commission is asking for at least a $2 donation per pumpkin to help cover costs.
The commission will provide not only the pumpkins, which can be taken home, but kid-friendly paint.
Costumed assistants will be on hand to help guide the younger artists, but children must come with a parent or supervisor.
