School bus collides with deer; no injuries
A westbound school bus carrying 35 passengers hit and killed a deer during the Friday commute
A school bus carrying 35 passengers westbound on Highway 30 struck a deer Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
The crash occurred at Highway 30 and Morgan Road, south of Scappoose.
Cheryl Engstrom, a spokeswoman for the Scappoose Rural Fire District, said few details were available about the crash, and was unsure if the bus carried local students or those visiting from elsewhere.
The bus was moved off the highway and traffic was moving freely.
The deer was killed in the crash. Engstrom said somebody had called within an hour to claim the tag on the deer.
November is when the highest occurence of wildlife-involved vehicle crashes occur, according Oregon State Police data. Emergency response officials are urging motorists to remain alert and use caution to avoid such collisions.
