Local woman wins a new car in online game

A Columbia City woman won a new car after playing the online version of McDonald’s Monopoly Dec. 13.

The woman, identified only as Kim G. in a press release, won a 2013 Fiat 500, valued at $18,500.

“It didn’t really sink in at first,” she said in a statement. “I sat there staring at the screen and thought there was no way this was true, so I called my husband into the room and he assured me that I had won. I could not believe it.”

In an email to the Spotlight, she said the Fiat will become her husband’s commuter car.

“He drives an hour each way every day, and his current vehicle is a 1991 Toyota Corolla that has over 260,000 miles on it,” she said. “It is just starting to give us some mechanical problems so we are thanking God for this incredible gift.”

Kim enters sweepstakes and contests like this regularly but has never won anything to compare with a car.

It wasn’t her first time playing the McDonald’s Monopoly game. She said she and her husband play it every year.

She said her family and friends are excited for her.

“Most people tell me that they didn’t think anyone ever won these prizes.”
