Take a Walk in Her Shoes event raises domestic and sexual assault awareness


by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Submitted photoThe Columbia County Women’s Resource Center will hold a high-heeled walk on April 20 to raise awareness and reduce incidents of sexual assault. At the “Take a Walk In Her Shoes” event, participating men will adorn women’s high-heeled shoes and walk from the St. Helens High School commons to the Burgerville on Highway 30, then back.

The event starts at 6 p.m.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the event is intended to get people talking and working together to end violence against women in Columbia County.

Participants will return to the high school and celebrate with music, prizes and children’s activities. There will be food for sale and everyone is invited to stay for the Kiwanis Donkey Basketball Game starting at 6 p.m.

Before April 14, the registration fee is $15 and includes a T-shirt. After April 14, registration is $20.

CCWRS is the only agency in Columbia County dedicated to serving victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
