Meeting to discuss Port land zoning change rescheduled

Tonight's public forum to discuss land zoning changes for land owned by the Port of St. Helens as well as privately-owned parcels has been cancelled.

The Planning Commission meeting was cancelled due to a lack of quorum of members. It has been rescheduled for May 6 at which point the zoning amendment forum will take place along with other business.

The meeting would have looked at a zoning amendment request to designate the agricultural land to Rural Industrial. Port commissioners and executives say the zoning amendment would the Port more flexibility in what they could do with the 786 acres they own and that such a change would be in keeping with their development goals.
