Credit union plans move in St. Helens

Wauna Federal Credit Union expected to add eye candy

Wauna Federal Credit Union managers are planning to relocate the St. Helens branch by the end of this year, according to a press release received Wednesday.

The new branch location is expected to offer easier highway access for residents and, as well, is likely to enhance the aesthetic of a stretch of highway that has seen better days.

Wauna Federal Credit Union officials on Wednesday said the credit union had purchased a property allowing for the relocation of its St. Helens Branch. Currently, the St. Helens branch is located on 500 N. Columbia River Hwy. The branch will move to a vacant stretch of land on Highway 30 perhaps as early as the end of this year, said Mike Chapman, Marketing director for Wauna Federal Credit Union.

The design process for the new building is already underway.

“The new branch architecture is very stylish and unique,” Chapman said. “The new two-story building will provide some needed eye candy for a stretch of highway that is slowly becoming an eye-sore for the community.”
