In role as assistant principal for past five years, Aguirre is a familiar face

by: SUBMITTED - BG AguirreSt. Helens School District Superintendent Mark Davalos on Wednesday announced the hiring of BG Aguirre as St. Helens High School’s newest principal.

Aguirre, who has worked as the high school’s assistant principal for the past five years, received school board approval at its May 22 meeting. She will replace outgoing principal Andy Croley.

“I am delighted with our choice and confident for our future,” Davalos said in a prepared statement.

An interview team composed of Davalos, high school students, parents, district staff and a school board member interviewed the candidates and ultimately recommended two to Davalos for final consideration.

She began her teaching career in the Beaverton School District at Vose and Kinnaman elementary schools. After eight years in a teaching position, she accepted a role as assistant principal at Newport High School and then as principal at Sam Case Elementary, also in Newport.

She is married with two children.
