CAT to jail donors during fair

The St. Helens Community Action Team is staging a Columbia County Jail and Bail fundraiser to benefit the second annual Columbia County Veterans Stand Down, an event that connects local veterans with health, housing and employment services. The fundraiser will be held at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 17, during the Columbia County Fair. Individuals can fill out “arrest warrants” in advance for others whom they want to send to “jail” or “rat out” a friend or family member during the event. CAT staff will pick up said “suspects” and deliver them to the fundraiser location. CAT will not provide return transportation. Once incarcerated in the fake jail, participants will be sentenced by a judge and given a bail amount for their “crime.” Participants must raise the bail amount specified by the judge via provided cell phones in order to be released from “jail.” For more information about the fundraiser, contact Pam Daniel, veterans case manager with CAT at 503-366-6591.
