Rainier holding citywide garage sale

Annual Rainier garage sale offers great opportunities for dealseekers

Rainier might be a good place to score a great deal this Saturday.

The city’s annual community garage sale is being held Saturday, Aug. 10, and residents looking to get rid of some of their belongings will be selling them throughout the Rainier area.

“People have individual garage sales, and they’re on a map,” said Sheryl Teuscher, past president of the Rainier Chamber of Commerce, who is coordinating the event.

Spaces at Rainier City Park are also available for a $5 fee. Teuscher suggested that opening up shop for the day at the centrally located park may be a good option for people who live on the outskirts or outside of Rainier and want to be able to sell some unwanted possessions.

Tables are also available for the day. The Chamber is charging $10 per table.

Maps can be picked up in front of Rainier City Hall. Teuscher said she will be there by about 7 a.m., although the garage sale does not officially start until 8 a.m.

“There’s always the diehards that start early,” Teuscher remarked.

The maps are printed by St. Helens Community Federal Credit Union.

Anybody who is interested in participating in the garage sale can contact Teuscher by telephone at 503-556-0186.

Another garage sale is being held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Beaver Homes Grange 518 west of Goble.

Tables for that sale are also $10 apiece, and lunch is included for an additional $5.

Teuscher said people interested in that event can call Margaret Brady at 503-556-3565.
