Rotten oak tree responsible for Thursday power outage

Columbia River PUD crews restore electricity to 1,446 customers

The Columbia River PUD is saying a rotten oak tree is responsible for knocking power out to 1,446 customers for an hour and a half Thursday morning.

PUD crews managed to restore power by 11:15 a.m.

The PUD initially reported that someone fell a tree through the power lines near the former Boise Inc. mill in St. Helens, resulting in a power outage at 9:45 a.m.

Crews fixed a broken pole and repaired the lines to restore power.
