Linnton food pantry receives donated van

The donation was timed to coincide with the week of Thanksgiving. A news release stated the food was to be delivered in time for Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.

Daniel Faccinetti, executive director of the Linnton Community Center said in a statement,“The donation of food couldn’t come at a better time as we are ramping up for the holiday season. We are very grateful to Sen. [Betsy] Johnson, Rep. [Brad] Witt and NW Natural for their dedication to this important work.”

Johnson, a Scappoose Democrat who represents far northwest Multnomah County, Columbia County and Clatsop County in the Oregon State Senate, was credited with organizing the donation. She present for the handover of the van Monday.

“People in our area are in desperate need of assistance and we want to do all we can help them get through the winter without going hungry,” Johnson said in a statement. “We are grateful to our corporate partners who have stepped up to help with this.”

Food was donated by Safeway, the Oregon Food Bank, and Johnson and her husband, John Helm.
