St. Helens to hold 'Sweetheart Ball' next month
Event will raise money for public art
The St. Helens Arts and Cultural Commission is hosting its second annual Sweetheart Ball on Feb. 15. The event, which includes dinner, dancing and entertainment, will raise funds to support public art programs and free art education workshops for children.
The ball will be held at Buccini Hall in St. Helens from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets purchased by Wednesday, Jan. 15, are $75 per person or $600 per table of eight. After Jan. 15, ticket prices will rise to $85 per person or $680 per table. Tickets can be purchased at St. Helens City Hall, the St. Helens Public Library and the South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.
The event will feature a jazz band and ballroom dancers, a chocolate gallery, flowers and gifts for couples. The Arts and Cultural Commission is hoping it will raise the remainder of the funds needed for a sculpture project planned for the Milton Creek Bridge at the intersection of Highway 30 and Columbia Boulevard.
Last year's Sweetheart Ball raised $8,500, according to a statement from the city.
