School board members 'pleased,' 'impressed' with Jupe

by: FILE PHOTO - Stephen Jupe. The Scappoose School District board of directors is happy with the performance of the district’s superintendent, Stephen Jupe, it announced Tuesday, July 1.

A statement from the school board described members as “pleased” and “impressed” with Jupe’s work as the top administrator of the district, which serves Scappoose, Sauvie Island and parts of Warren.

“Mr. Jupe has demonstrated excellent leadership in the community and the district by attending and being present in both educational and community events,” the board’s summary comments read in part. “His presence in the community is shaping the way the community views our district and created a higher expectation and sense of pride with our community members.”

The comments noted Jupe’s communication with the school board has “improved.”

The school district must replace three of its school principals, as well as its business manager, due to high turnover at the end of the last school year.

“The board is supportive of providing additional mentoring/facilitation to [Jupe] as he develops this team,” the summary comments conclude.

Jupe will continue on as superintendent in the next school year. Students return to school Sept. 2 and Sept. 3.
